Hawkeye & Echo star Alaqua Cox shares her love for Marvel fans

Hawkeye star Alaqua Cox surely seems the most excited among the stacked ensemble roster for this Marvel Cinematic Universe-based Disney Plus series. The breakout actor will be playing Maya Lopez a.k.a Echo but will next appear in her own standalone TV show titled after the same name.

Hawkeye is just a week away from debuting on Disney Plus and will be the second Marvel project under MCU to feature a deaf superhero or better put, vigilante. On Wednesday night, The shows’ stars were present in LA for Hawkeye red carpet launch event. During an interview at the event, Cox expressed her love for the fans saying, “Oh my gosh it is so fun, I love the fans because they are finding little things that even I didn’t realize,” said Cox. You can check out the rest in the video below.

The development of the Echo series under the mouse house was announced during Disney Plus Day 2021. The project is set to begin production sometime next year. Prior to Cox’s landing her Marvel role, she worked in Milwaukee, state of Wisconsin, USA in a warehouse when her friends showed her a casting call for a Deaf Native American character.

During the red Carpet, Variety also spoke to Cox about her upcoming own series after Hawkeye. This is what she had to say:

“It’s just so crazy that I’m getting my own show after Hawkeye. That was like my first acting role, ever. I don’t know why they’re giving me this opportunity, but I’m just grateful. I’m excited for the support and being able to advocate for the Deaf community. We want to have that equality and get more people involved. I’m just so grateful for all of the opportunities I’ve been given.”

Marvel Studios’ very own Christmas special series, Hawkeye will see Clint Barton on a new journey in a post-blip New York City. But the former Avenger won’t be able to hang up his bow this holiday after his past catches up to the present. Teaming up with Hawkeye’s biggest fan, Kate Bishop, the two uncover a criminal conspiracy while Barton hopes to get to his family before Christmas.

The first two episodes of Hawkeye will stream on November 24 on Disney Plus.
