“headless Superman” – Man of Steel cameo in Black Adam reportedly similar to Peacemaker, no Henry Cavill? details

Henry Cavill’s Superman is making news again after DCEU star Dwayne Johnson hinted at a possible Man of Steel cameo in Black Adam. Though it may not be what fans asked for rather a faceless appearance, similar to the DC character’s inclusion in HBO Max’s Peacemaker and 2019’s Shazam!.

Superman has been on the backburner at Warner Bros. for quite some time since 2017’s Justice League to be precise. In the past years, several reports from insiders indicated Cavill’s team and the studio could not reach a deal, mainly due to The Witcher star’s desire to reprise the role in a potential Man of Steel 2 sequel instead of playing cameos in upcoming DC titles. And that largely explains why DC’s A-list superhero appears faceless while visually still giving off the Snyder iteration impression. Unfortunately, it seems the Black Adam cameo will just be another Superman in incognito look.

Insider MyTimeToShineHello, a credible account known for dropping accurate film/TV-related reports first revealed Superman casting in Black Adam – following Johnson’s cryptic promise. Now, journalist Grace Randolph also confirmed it will be another “headless Superman” cameo. Additionally, the rumored news came with another insider claiming WB wants to “seal a deal” with Cavill but it’s the actor who’s been the problem.  So it reiterates Cavill’s desire to have a creative say and a pay rise along with an assured Superman feature sequel to get him onboard.

With Ezra Miller’s antics making The Flash movie DOA – earlier strategies for the DC movies brand are up in air,  particularly Sasha Calle’s Supergirl debut in the speedster flick and Batgirl which is expected to showcase Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight, Ben Affleck’s Batman replacement.

It should also be noted Ta-Nehisi Coates is penning a Superman movie too so it’s unclear how it will play into the larger DC Universe.  Nevertheless, fans are displeased to hear Warner Bros. will once again choose the “headless Superman” route. But perhaps Johnson’s words, “I hear you, I always got you” could hold weight, and with Black Adam still a few months away, a fruitful negotiation between both parties could do wonders to the DC Extended Universe.
