The upcoming new Hellboy reboot touted as the best adaptation of Mike Mignola’s comics has been all over the internet lately. Trailers and clips released for the movie’s promotions have so far managed to convey that the film will have its much-loved gore, fantasy and R-rated roots.

Recently, Lionsgate released a few new stills from Hellboy featuring the World Destroyer in his transformed state. Other images show Hellboy with Alice Monaghan ( Sasha Lane) and Ben Daimio (Daniel Dae Kim).

Earlier yesterday, Hellboy also got a new featurette explaining how the filmmakers brought the Hellboy comics to life. In the video, Mignola also teases that there are moments in the movie which are directly from the comics.

But unlike the comics, Alice won’t be a love interest to Hellboy but will instead explore the character’s arc as an individual.

The upcoming movie has been one of the most anticipated titles among fans but it is not entirely the movie fans expected. Though some call it as Hellboy 3, Director Neil Marshall clarified to IGN during their set visit that he didn’t want to do a threequel but instead a reboot.

“I was first approached about possibly doing a Hellboy 3,” the British director tells me in between takes on the film’s Bulgarian set. “My response to that was, ‘Well, that’s somebody else’s terrain and I don’t want to step on their turf.’ But I was like, ‘If you are thinking about doing a reboot any time, then I’d love to do that.’”

The upcoming reboot initially faced a mixed response from the fandom when it released its first teaser. but that changed when the studio released its red band trailer which won over fans.

Early test screenings also praised the movie for its core R-rating. It seems like the movie is on the road to success.

Directed by Neil Marshall. the Hellboy reboot movie hits theaters on April 12. The movie also stars Ian McShane as Trevor Bruttenholm, Milla Jovovich as Nimue and Penelope Mitchell as Ganeida.
