Earlier on Saturday, fans were struck with tragic news as it reported that the 1960s series Batman actor Adam West had passed away. It was revealed that the Caped Crusader had died at the age 88 after battling Leukaemia for a short period of time.
The unfortunate demise news of Adam West has spread throughout the world as fans and fellow actors from Hollywood have begun sharing reaction on Twitter and other social media platforms. Recently, DC Entertainment also put out an official statement to honor the great actor.
“Like many others, Adam West as Batman was part of my childhood,” said DC Film President Geoff Johns. “Watching those reruns every day after school, Batman made reading comics that much more real for me growing up.”
“Batman’s popularity will be forever linked with Adam West,” said Jim Lee, Publisher, DC Entertainment. “He brought joy to legions of fans around the world and was the gateway for many of them to discover or in some cases rediscover their love of comic books. He’ll be deeply missed.”
Actors who had the opportunity to play Batman on the big screen have also shared their reaction to West’s demise. Ben Affleck, the actor playing the current version of the Dark Knight also tweeted to honor West’s career.
