HOTD fans react to House of the Dragon star Paddy Considine Golden Globes 2023 nomination snub

HOTD fans react to House of the Dragon star Paddy Considine Golden Globes 2023 nomination snub

GOT and HOTD fans are appalled over Paddy Considine‘s Golden Globes 2023 nomination snub. The House of the Dragon star was showered with praises for his performance as King Viserys I Targaryen during the airing of the Game of Thrones spin-off in October. While Considine has been robbed of a chance to contend at this year’s award ceremony, the HBO series has been listed as a nominee for Best Television Series, Drama and Emma D’Arcy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series.

Raking in over 29 million viewers per episode, the popularity surrounding House of the Dragon speaks for itself. Unlike Game of Thrones, the spin-off series managed to captivate viewers right from episode 1 thanks to gripping performances from stars like Considine, whose character’s arc played a pivotal role in setting off the show’s most anticipated Targaryen civil war.

Paddy Considine is receiving an outpour of support from House of the Dragon fans after the Golden Globes 2023 snub

Paddy Considine earned much praise for his breathtaking performance in House of the Dragon episode 8 for portraying a feeble old diseased driven King. His transformation for the role and acting chops had fans calling for an Emmy nomination after his character was killed off on the show.

The Golden Globes snub for Paddy Considine has not sat well with fans across the globe as many continue to share their frustrations by tweeting clips of his award-worthy performance from HOTD. Readers can check it out below.

The HOTD fandom has been vocal since last week’s Critics Choice Award also snubbed Paddy Considine. However, Matt Smith and Milly Alcock were lauded with a CCA nomination. It should be noted that HBO submitted Paddy Considine for 2023’s Emmy nomination consideration in the Lead Actor category.

Game of the Thrones creator George R. R. Martin was also moved by Considine’s role in HOTD episode 8 stating he “deserves an Emmy for his episode alone.” The author also added “there’s no justice” if he was robbed. But it’s unclear if the 49-year-old actor still stands a chance for an Emmy nomination after the Golden Globes 2023 snub.

Considine’s last touch to the character was the death scene which turned out to be the most difficult and possibly hazardous to his health sequence. Speaking at GOT convention in LA on Sunday, the star revealed his oxygen had dropped down to alarming levels since his scene required him to stay still in bed for hours. But the actor changed his breathing pattern to be suitable for the scene at hand, and “after a few hours my oxygen levels went straight down,” said Considine.

He further added, “I had my levels measured and they said, ‘We’ve got to get out of here, you need to get outside.’ And it was interesting because it was almost like my brain was telling my body how to breathe and my physiology was reacting to it, so my oxygen was dropping down. So I actually felt like I was dying, which was fun.”
