‘I have no issue with Snyder fans’ – Shazam 2’s Zachary Levi interacts with Snyderverse fandom, says Man of Steel and 300 movie are among his favorite titles & more

Zachary Levi recently singled out the toxicity he faces from the Snyderverse fandom to criticize a few bad apples as “negative people” during an interview for Shazam 2. However, the DCEU actor has shed more light on his stance to say he holds no grudge against Zack Snyder. Moreover, the Shazam star holds 2013’s Man of Steel as the best DC film from the director.

The Captain Marvel of DC Universe has long been haunted by his past comments on Zack Snyder’s Justice League for simply stating it does not exist. Since then, Levi has been a target of extreme criticism and at some point, faces hate from a section of toxic fans. It only amplified when the 42-year-old star showed support for James Gunn‘s world-building which is expected to include Shazam.

With over barrage of tweets aimed at the DC film actor, Zachary Levi offered his prompt responses to many, particularly to Snyderverse fans questioning him if he holds disdain for Snyder’s fanbase. One such fan also pointed out that Snyder’s filmography has helped deal with their mental health and said “he missed an opportunity to connect with people” pointing to a quote from Levi discussing trauma.

Zachary Levi had a comforting response to say, “I have no issue with Snyder fans. Heck, I’ve been to nearly all his movies myself.” However, “My issue is with anyone who wishes to destroy something, simply because it’s not what they want. That comes from hate, not love.” added the American Underdog actor.

Zachary Levi says Shazam 2’s biggest issue is marketing

Levi also called out a DCU fan’s “divisive behavior” for coming to the actor’s defense by being toxic against the Snyderverse community. On a lighter note, the DCEU star spoke highly of Snyder’s 300. Readers can check out the tweets below.

Shazam 2 producer and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran’s ties with Zachary Levi has been presumed by many fans as a gateway for the DC actor to join the new world-building for Gunnverse. Though it has been repeatedly stated it all hinges on the box office, in fact, even Levi indicated the future set-up teased in Shazam! Fury of the Gods post-credits scene will be explored if the sequel is profitable.

It’s been a rough week for director David F. Sandberg and actor Zachary Levi since the center of focus remains on Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ underwhelming Rotten Tomatoes review and poor box office performance. The helmer has already revealed he is “definitely done” with the comic book movie genre for now and is planning a return to horror.

Speaking of the box office, Zachary Levi also believes “the biggest issue we’re having is marketing”. However, Shazam! Fury of the Gods has slowly seen a rise in positive reviews for being a family movie. It remains to be seen if the movie could bounce back in the following weeks of its theatrical run.

Shazam 2 is currently in theaters worldwide.
