With Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1 just days from its premiere, Netflix is leaving no stones unturned in promoting the penultimate season in India including collaborating with renowned music maestro Illaiyaraaja to deliver his own rendition of the iconic Stranger Things theme.
Stranger Things season 4 will be taking Hawkins’ ragtag team to the Upside Down where Mike, Eleven, Noah, Dustin, Caleb and the others will face the creature Vecna. While the fourth part brings fans a step closer to the series’ end, the growing popularity also attracts a new demographic, one that hopes to experience Stranger Things in India’s regional languages, Tamil and Telugu. And fortunately, Netflix is all ears to fans’ plea with the new promo confirming Stranger Things will soon be released in the two aforementioned languages.
The announcement comes with a grand orchestra rendition of the Stranger Things opening theme by Illaiyaraaja. The visuals are also a reimagining of a “What If” type scenario with Stranger Things set in presumably in South India.
The Indian music composer tweeted the video writing, “Raaja Kaiya vacha… Strange ah pondahilla”, an iconic line from a song he composed for 1989’s Apoorva Sagodharargal. The theme music has Illaiyaraaja’s 80s-eerie blueprint all over it and fans can’t seem to keep their excitement at bay on social media. Even Tamil cinema filmmakers like Gautham Vasudev Menon, Venkat Prabhu & more were all praises for the collaboration. From the looks of it, the streaming giant has surely won brownie points from Stranger Things fans. Readers can check it out below.

An 8 minute clip of the first episode from Stranger Things season 4 Vol. 1 was released earlier this week showing scenes from Eleven’s backstory. The upcoming season features a few new faces with Freddie Krueger actor Robert Englund also making an appearance. The supernatural sci-fi series created by the Duffer Brothers will end with Stranger Things season 5.
