“I’m a fan of Kate Bishop”: Ant-Man 3 star Kathryn Newton talks Cassie Lang & possible Young Avengers movie

At SDCC, Marvel Studios confirmed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Kathryn Newton suiting up as Cassie Lang in a comic-accurate costume for the threequel. but since then, the young superhero taking on Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) mantle has inadvertently led to discussions on a potential Young Avengers movie with the new gen and the Ant-Man 3 actor is all for it.

Cassie Lang is already a known character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making her debut in 2015’s Ant-Man. She was later portrayed as a grown-up in the post-blip world in Avengers: Endgame. However, the actor who played her in the 2019’s ensemble blockbuster, Emma Fuhrmaann was replaced with Kathryn Newton for the upcoming third installment. The star’s dazzling presence at San Diego Comic-con assured Marvel fans the character lies in safe hands. So much that Screen Rant even got to address the possibility of a young MCU heroes team-up with Cassie Lang.

“It would be really great if they did the Young Avengers,” said Newton at Comic-Con. “I’m a fan of the Young Avengers. I’m a fan of Kate Bishop; I know [she] and Cassie are supposed to be friends in the comics. I think that would be really exciting. I know Cassie’s love story. I’m excited to see the fans’ reactions and just find out what the fans want to see.”

With Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) established in Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) also following in Captain Marvel’s footsteps, it’s clear Marvel has a young generation of superheroes building their presence in the MCU. Furthermore, as Phase 5 takes us closer to the Multiverse saga arc, the heroes may need every arsenal at their disposal to face off Kang and that includes the Young Avengers. But from an optimistic standpoint, keeping conflicts on earth at bay with the future heroes while the adults handle the heavy lifting in Avengers: Kang dynasty seems plausible but knowing Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, there’s a plan in store that’s sure to amaze the masses.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Comic-Con exclusive teaser left a lot of Marvel fans in awe with Jonathan Mayor’s menacing first look as Kang the Conqueror. Although the world is yet to see this version of the villain, his iconic line from the Ant-Man 3 SDCC promo “You’re an Avenger. Have I killed you before?” has many wondering if Scott Lang dies in Quantumania.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrives on February 17, 2023.
