IT Chapter Two is barely weeks away from its premiere and Warner Bros. is leaving no stones unturned in promoting the horror sequel in hopes of ensuring its success at the box office. Today, several new hi-res images of Pennywise terrorizing the people in the town of Derry and the Losers Club were released as well.
One image shows Pennywise approaching a little girl and we don’t have to speculate what might have gone down (you’ll float too). You can check out rest of the hi-res stills below.
So far, early reactions for IT Chapter Two have been up to par though several journalists pointed out that the sequel doesn’t live up to the first It movie’s expectations. But fortunately, it looks like the sequel will still manage to break box office records as its already being reported that the movie has sold more tickets on Atom tickets than any other horror movie, a record previously held by Halloween.
IT Chapter Two has a runtime of 169 minutes and is already being criticized by a few as a lengthy sequel. but it shouldn’t come as a surprise since it was reported that director Andy Muschietti’s first cut came out with a runtime of 4 hours. But we still may get to see more of the first and second film if the studio decides to release an extended cut.
IT Chapter Two will be the conclusion to this saga but during a recent interview with io9, Andy and Barbara Muschietti were asked if they’d jump at the opportunity to do another movie.
“The book, as it is, is done,” producer Barbara Muschietti said.
“There is a whole mythology to the book though, Mythology is something that always has opportunities to explore. It has been on Earth for millions of years. He’s been in contact with humans for hundreds of years, every 27 years. So you can imagine the amount of material,” Andy Muschietti said.
It seems like the Andy may be hinting at the possibility of exploring what Pennywise looked like and did in the early centuries, a prequel perhaps. Though sounds like a good horror film–there are currently no plans set in motion to further explore this character.
IT Chapter Two releases on September 6, 2019.
