Ant-Man and The Wasp director Peyton Reed recently revealed in an interview with IGN that they originally had plans to introduce The Wasp in Captain America: Civil War. But later when the filmmakers realized that lack of screen time will not do justice to the character, they decided to put Wasp’s debut on hold.

There was a point, really early on, where she was going to be introduced in Civil War,” Reed revealed. “But there just simply wasn’t screen time to do justice to that character, so we’ve done it here.”

Ant-Man and The Wasp will see Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang aka Ant-Man head on a mission to find Hank’s wife and Hope’s mother Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) aka the original Wasp from the Quantum Realm. Janet disappeared into the mysterious alternate dimension decades ago.

Ant-Man and the Wasp will debut in theaters on July 6, 2018.
