‘James Cameron loves RRR’: fans react to Avatar 2 director praising SS Rajamouli, Naatu Naatu music director says Titanic helmer gave feedback on score, details

SS Rajamouli and the makers of RRR were over the moon during their recent interaction with Avatar 2 director James Cameron at the 28th Critics Choice Awards. The Indian Telugu director along with the film’s composer M. M. Keeravani was having a candid conversation with the Titanic helmer and a brief video of their exchange is trending on Twitter, with fans praising the RRR filmmaker for receiving applaud from the legendary Hollywood helmer.

With RRR receiving two honorary awards from CCA – fans and critics are already confident over the Tollywood blockbuster’s Oscar race chance. While it remains to be seen if RRR or SS Rajamouli could win an Academy Award, many from the entertainment industry and avid followers of Rajamouli were shocked to witness an enthusiastic James Cameron speaking in detail about the Tollywood flick with the Bahubali director.

Rajamouli and Cameron reportedly spoke for 10 minutes discussing the making of the blockbuster. Moreover, the Naatu Naatu song director also exchanged words with James Cameron. The music composer even tweeted stating that The Way of Water director had watched “RRR twice and gave feedback on my score.” Rajamouli was a Critics Choice Awards nominee for Best Director and was pitted against Cameron, Spielberg and eight other helmets.

SS Rajamouli had the opportunity to speak with The Fabelmans filmmaker Steven Spielberg as well, an interaction he described as, “I just met GOD!!!.” The movie’s co-star Alia Bhatt also reacted to a tweet from IndieWire’s Anne Thompson saying that Cameron admired RRR. However, reactions from fans were filled with more praise for the Indian filmmaker. Readers can check it out below.

Based on their heart-warming exchange, some fans are hoping the Avatar 2 director could collaborate with SS Rajamouli over a potential Hollywood project, similar to Alita: Battle Angel – a movie envisioned by the legendary filmmaker but was helmed by Robert Rodriguez. In fact, SS Rajamouli has been signed on by CAA following the worldwide success of the Telugu movie, so it can be argued the possibilities for the two creatives to work together are not far-fetched.

The Oscar nomination list is expected to be unveiled on January 24 and all eyes are on RRR hopefully bagging a nomination for Original Song and Best Picture. But some Hollywood creatives are confident the Telugu movie could win 2023’s Oscar so stay tuned for more updates on the prestigious award ceremony.
