James Gunn shares update on The Suicide Squad amid self-Quarantine for Covid-19 outbreak

Warner Bros. DC film, The Suicide Squad was one of the few projects that managed to wrap up principal photography before the outbreak of Coronavirus was announced as a global pandemic, putting a halt on almost all major movie productions. Even amid the crisis, director James Gunn has offered an update on the project ensuring that work is in progress in the editing room.

Early reactions to the set photos of The Suicide Squad have been overwhelmingly positive and has sparked quite the interest among fans. Moreover, Gunn’s sheer excitement in making the film and hyping it on social media has only piled on in bringing more attention.

While remaining in self-quarantine, director James Gunn decided to do a Q&A for his followers on Instagram to offer an update on his status. One of the questions aimed at the director was from an enthusiastic fan pleading for an update on the DC film.

Gunn responded back via his Instagram stories saying, “Haha I love it. We are through editing a lot of it. I can’t believe how talented the people I was with out, both the cast and the crew. And it was FUN! I mean as fun as moviemaking can be for me.” You can check it out below.

The Suicide Squad will have a few familiar faces from the David Ayers’ version of the DC film such as Boomerang (Jai Courtney) Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and the brains behind Task Force X, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). But there will also be several other new actors like Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion John Cena and Pete Davidson portraying new villains from the DC lore. However, Gunn has also warned fans not to get too attached to the new characters hinting that most of them could end up dead in a similar fashion of the last Suicide Squad film.

The Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters on August 06. 2021.
