Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has finally wrapped up production as news of its completion comes directly from the sequel’s titular star, Jason Momoa. The follow-up to the 2018 blockbuster hit DCEU flick had begun filming earlier sometime in July 2021 and although faced with a few stumbles due to covid-19 and set injuries – director James Wan and his crew have managed to finish principal photography after almost half a year.
Momoa announced the wrap-up on Aquaman 2 filming via his Instagram stories and cheerfully said, “Aw man, that’s a wrap, That’s a wrap, Aquaman 2. I have so much to share with you, I wish…I could tell you so much. What an epic day. I love you. So good to have been home to finish this, so many good surprises. Love you and…it’s been a long time. I’m taking a break. Aloha (via: Comicbook).”
The Aquaman star is currently in Mokuleia, Hawaii, as can be seen in the video below. Production moved from London to shoot the remaining portion of the sequel, as last reported.

Momoa also shared a video of his social media handles spending his last day in Hawaii. The star offered a small tease showing off his golden amber-ish colored eyes for the film. For those unaware, Momoa wears contact lenses for the role, a creative decision he got to make and has donned since his first appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Earlier in November, actor Dolph Lundgren had first announced his completion filming for Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. The Expendables star, who returns as King Nereus of Xebel in Aquaman 2 praised the film and even claimed it would be better than the original.
In 2018, Aquaman became the first title under the DC Cinematic Universe banner to cross the $1 billion mark at box office earnings worldwide. Going by early looks presented during the DC FanDome 2021, the sequel just may live up to the first movie’s expectations or even more.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will arrive in theaters on December 16, 2022.
