Jeremy Renner will once again essay the role of Clint Barton/Hawkeye in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s untitled film Avengers 4, to be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
It was in 2011 with Kenneth Branagh’s Thor that Jeremy Renner entered the Marvel Comics archer. He then continued his role in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers in 2012 and Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. His stint in 2016 release Captain America: Civil War, directed by the Russos’ changed everything.
Going by his Instagram post, it is clear that the Renner will once again make an appearance as Hawkeye in the upcoming MCU’s untitled sequel. The actor had posted a set photo late last month in which he was seen with an eye mask.
The former agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. shared on Instagram a set photo of his silhouette in his Avengers costume, thereby confirming his role in the sequel. The kind of costume that he will be wearing in the film is not clear since the picture only shows his silhouette against a concrete wall. He is wearing a high-collared top and a quiver filled with arrows can be noticed just above his right shoulder. Renner was inconspicuous by his absence in the first trailer of Avengers: Infinity War. However, that does not go to prove that he is not part of the film. The MCU star had earlier this year confirmed his involvement in the project and hinted in his appearance in Avengers 4 at the same time. While Avengers: Infinity War will be the fourth time that Jeremy Renner will be reprising his MCU role, it will be his fifth overall MCU appearance.
While Avengers: Infinity War will hit the theaters on May 4, 2018, Avengers 4 will release on May 3, 2019.
