Jeremy Renner made it clear that he is absolutely ready for a complete Hawkeye spinoff provided Marvel Studios works it out soon (before he turns 50). Renner also promised “wondrous things” for Hawkeye character in Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.
46-year-old Jeremy Renner has had a good run donning his MCU character for quite a while now. Avengers 4 will be Renner’s sixth film with the MCU, and the studio has already kept their option open for the possibility of a Hawkeye spinoff.
Renner played first played Clint Barton as a cameo (unaccredited) in 2011’s Thor and has since then continuously made appearances in the entire Avengers lineup.
While MCU is planning their next few films for the coming decade, Jeremy Renner wants Marvel Studios to hurry up with a Hawkeye standalone movie. Speaking to the South China Morning Post, the 46-year-old said, “It would be a wonderful thing. Just don’t wait too long! I don’t want to be in my 50s in tights.”
It is not certain if Renner is indeed bothered about wearing tights in his 50s, or whether he said that only to stir action and get things moving in the House of Mouse.
Meanwhile, there are a lot of interesting things that are expected to take place in Avengers: Infinity War as far as Hawkeye character is concerned “We’re doing a lot of really wondrous things that I’ve always wanted to do with this character … I think everyone will be very pleased when they find out what happens.”
While Renner did mention about “wondrous things” with Hawkeye in Infinity War, this is certainly not enough for Renner, who is looking forward to something bigger for Hawkeye.
While the talk of a Hawkeye Spinoff has been going around for quite a while now, Marvel fans are unsure if the sharp-shooting marksman has enough backstory to tell.
Moreover, with the addition of so many characters like the X-Men and Fantastic Four, Barton’s future in a standalone film hangs in the air.
Avengers: Infinity War will release on May 4, 2018, while Avengers 4 movie is expected to hit the theaters on May 3, 2019.
