If Zack Snyder fans are wondering what happened to the Norse-inspired animated series, Twilight of the Gods – rest assured, the Netflix adaptation seems to be in active development, in fact – a report on social media revealed The Matrix: Resurrections star Jessica Henwick reportedly cast as a voice actor for the anime show. The star is set to play a Germanic goddess.
It’s been half a year since Netflix announced a new project in partnership with Snyder and his production company, Stone Quarry. The news was announced on Geeked Week, a virtual fan event organized on social media to announce the OTT’s upcoming releases.
The announcement also came with a voice cast reveal namely John Noble as Odin, Paterson Joseph as Loki, Corey Stoll as Hrafknkel, Jamie Chung as Hel, Jamie Clayton as The Seid-Kona, Kristopher Hivju as Andvari, Lauren Cohan as Inge, Peter Stormare as Ulfr, Pilou Asbæk as Thor, Rahul Kohli as Egill, Stuart Martin as Leif and Sylvia Hoeks as Sigrid. For the uninitiated, Sandraudiga is a Germanic goddess and unlike the other Norse pantheons which can be attested to the Poetic Edda, Sandraudiga’s origin was reportedly uncovered from a stone inscription in North Brabant, Netherlands. Considering the title of the series, it can be speculated that the show will address a few more Germanic gods from different timelines.
It must be noted IMDB also states Henwick as the voice actor for Sandraudiga for episode 1. So unless it’s an error on the database platform, the star’s involvement seems all but confirmed.
Snyder won’t be helming the Norse-inspired anime but is on board to write and executive produce the series. While Jay Oliva, Snyder’s long-time collaborator as a storyboard artist and also the director of critically acclaimed DC animated film, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, is helming Twilight of the Gods.
Twilight of the Gods does not have a release date scheduled yet and neither has there been a first look tease from Netflix. It’s unclear when exactly the series would premiere in 2022.
