Joe Manganiello Teases Ongoing Work On DC’s Deathstroke Solo Movie

There’s finally some new update on Warner Bros. Deathstroke movie. Actor Joe Manganiello has confirmed that the solo film is still pretty much alive and it’s just a matter of when production on the film starts. Deathstroke is set to be directed by The Raid’s Gareth Evans.

During an interview with MTV at the recently held San Diego Comic-Con 2018 event, when Joe Manganiello was asked to update on the status of the Deathstroke film, he said it is still in the works. Although he did not reveal much information about the project, he did admit that everyone is committed to giving a shape to the film.

I just say ‘it’s in the works’ because it is. and I — really there’s nothing further. … All I can say is, for the hardcore fans, it’s–it’s in the works,” Manganiello said. “They want it they want the character to happen, it’s just “when” he happens. They [want to do it the right way]. Everyone’s committed to that.”

Back in April, the actor had a similar response when asked about the progress on the solo project. But it sounds like Manganiello is trying to be secretive and not reveal any details related to the project without discussing with the rest of the crew.

Manganiello debuted as Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke in one of the post-credits scenes in Justice League. The DC supervillain was initially supposed to feature in The Batman when Ben Affleck was attached to the project as the writer and the director. But after Affleck stepped down from the director’s chair, his replacement Matt Reeves chalked out different plans for The Batman movie. In fact, he has restarted the project from scratch.

It’s unlikely that the Deathstroke solo film will be out anytime soon as DC and Warner Bros have a lot of films in the pipeline including Joker, Suicide Squad 2, The Batman, Batgirl, Lobo, Birds of Prey, and Nightwing.
