John Wick 4 won’t arrive until 2023 but that isn’t stopping Lionsgate from throwing the spotlight on the Keanu Reeves starring fourth installment at CinemaCon 2022. The Pop Culture exhibition will begin today, 25 April in Las Vegas with studios gearing up to showcase their upcoming line-ups and fortunately, it seems a possible teaser for the guns blazing assassin blockbuster could also be on the table.
The first promotional artwork for John Wick: Chapter 4 is on display at CinemaCon 2022. The promo is showcased in a horizontal banner but split apart and put together with lightboxes lined together. Readers can check it out below.

At first look, the image doesn’t offer much except for the cherry blossoms on both sides, possibly hinting at the film’s story being set in Japan. Earlier last year, a leaked crew merch suggested the fourth film is titled John Wick: Chapter 4 – Hagukre, though the last part of the title is not included in the promo banner. Hagakure’s direct translation is ‘Hidden by the Leaves,’ it’s a long-forgotten definitive guide of the Samurai during the Pacific War.

The new tease in the promo could indicate the film largely takes place in Japan, especially since John Wick 4 was additionally filmed in Japan and later some final shots in New York City. However, in 2021, sequences were also shot in Berlin and Paris so Chapter 4 could take Wick around the world, similar to John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
Lionsgate will present its upcoming slate on Thursday, April 28 so perhaps a first look teaser could be part of their reveal. Furthermore, the prequel special series, The Continental (which currently does not have a release date) and another spinoff franchise, Ballerina – updates on both projects are also expected. In 2021, Ana de Armas was reported to have been in talks for a lead role in Ballerina.
John Wick 4 will arrive in theatres on March 24, 2023.
