UPDATE: ‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ Gets A Latin Title & New Filming Date

Earlier at CinemaCon, Lionsgate had an exciting reveal for fans as the studio released a new teaser poster and an official synopsis for John Wick: Chapter 3. Moreover, the film has also gotten a fitting new title as well.

UPDATE: A new post by John Wick 3’s cinematographer Dan Lausten has revealed that ‘Parabellum’ is, in fact, the new working title.

A new listing on Production Weekly has revealed the second part title of John Wick: Chapter 3 as ‘Para Bellum’. For those unaware, it is a term derived from a statement, ‘Si vis pacem, para bellum’ made by Latin author Publius Flavius Vegetius which if translated means, “If you want peace, prepare for war”.

So, it looks like the title of the movie is, in fact, John Wick: Chapter 3- Para Bellum (Prepare for War). It is certainly the perfect title for the threequel since it will show the Boogeyman fight for his life as he is being hunted down for a huge bounty on his head and for violating a central rule on the Continental Hotel grounds in Chapter 2.

The film was originally supposed to begin production by the end of this month. But according to the production listing, filming is expected to kick off on May 7th in New York- Montreal.  Furthermore, it looks like the studio is still scouting for locations in Morocco and Jordan.

The film seems to initially begin in New York where John Wick will fight his way out of the City and make use of the one-hour grace period given by the Continental manager. From there on, fans may be treated to new locations as the boogeyman is singled out with no help.

If you haven’t read the synopsis and seen the teaser poster yet, you can find it below (courtesy: Collider).

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.”

John Wick: Chapter 3 is set to hit theaters on May 17, 2019.
