‘Joker’: Arthur Fleck Runs & Stalks His Love Interest Sophie Dumond In New Clip

A new video from the sets of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie has surfaced online that shows Arthur Fleck aka the Clown Prince of Crime stalking Zazie Beetz’s character Sophie Dumond. Zazie’s Sophie is a cynical single mother who is being portrayed as Arthur’s love interest in the film. The scene being shot shows Arthur sans the iconic clown makeup and avatar.

Notably, the video also shows Phoenix having a nasty fall, then wincing in pain and holding his leg on Park Avenue in New York City while trying to deliver an envelope to Bruce Wayne’s billionaire father Thomas Wayne. The video offers the first look at The Dark Knight Rises actor Brett Cullen who is playing the role of Batman’s father, Thomas Wayne.

Last week, we also came across set pictures of Phoenix donning the infamous criminal mastermind’s Joker costume, white face paint, signature green hair and a big maniacal smile on his face while being hauled away in a Gotham police car.

Set to take place in Gotham City during the 1980s, Joker will feature the Clown Prince of Crime as a failed comedian. The movie will dig deeper into the character’s past showcasing the situations and circumstance that forced Arthur Fleck to turn into a badass clown. The makers are eyeing an R-rating for the movie as it will showcase the real-life world of stand-up comedians who also perform in strip clubs.

The film’s synopsis reads as follows-

Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of a man disregarded by society is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.

Joker is directed by Todd Phillips who has also co-written the film’s along script with Scott Silver (8 Mile). The film has been executive produced by Martin Scorsese. Joker also stars Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Glenn Fleshler, Josh Pais, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, and Shea Whigham.

Joker is set to release on October 4, 2019.
