‘Joker’: New Set Pics Show Clown Prince Of Crime Sprinting In Manhattan Streets

The principal photography on Todd Phillips’ Joker movie is currently underway in New York. Some new set pictures have captured Joaquin Phoenix filming an intense scene in full Joker costume and make-up. The pictures show Phoenix running down the foggy streets of Manhattan carrying a plaid bag full to the brim. He can be seen wearing a white shirt, a mustard yellow vest and maroon pants that had several patches sewed into them.

Looking at the pictures, it seems Phoenix’s Joker is trying to run away, might be from the Gotham authorities. Earlier this week, a video from the film sets surfaced online that showed Joker running in full speed as he is being pursued by two Gotham Police detectives, played by Shea Whigham and Bill Camp. The scene ended with a dangerous stunt where the Clown Prince of Crime was hit by a taxi.

Warner Bros. has just released the first official synopsis for the Joker movie via the studio’s official 2019 editorial guide.

Drama. Joker centers around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale,” the new synopsis reads.

Inspired by Alan Moore’s comic book The Killing Joke and the 1982 film The King of Comedy, the Joker movie will depict the origin story of Arthur Fleck, who after failing as a stand-up comedian, becomes the Clown Prince of Crime. The film is set in Gotham City. It is eyeing for an R-rating.

Director Todd Phillips has co-written the film’s script along with Scott Silver. The Joker movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as the infamous criminal mastermind, Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond along with Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Josh Pais, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, and Shea Whigham.

The film is set to release in theaters on October 4, 2019.
