‘Joker’: New Set Pictures Show The Clown Prince Sitting In A Gotham Police Car

Some new pictures coming from the sets of Warner Bros. and DC Films’ upcoming standalone Joker movie offer a glimpse at Joaquin Phoenix donning the villainous Clown Prince of Crime avatar, which could probably be his final look. The film’s production is currently underway in Newark, New Jersey.

The pictures (via JustJared) show him wearing the infamous criminal mastermind’s signature green hair, white face paint and joker costume with a big maniacal smile on face while being hauled away in a Gotham police car. It’s unclear if Arthur Fleck aka The Joker was arrested by authorities in the scene, or if a police car is the getaway vehicle of choice for his crew.

Another set of on-set pictures show the Batman nemesis parading around a New York street.

Recently, a new video also surfaced online of what looks to be an old-school Batmobile being transported to a filming location. The video title and description state that the car is allegedly being driven to a Newark, New Jersey location where the Joker is currently filming. As the Joker movie will be an origin story of the villainous clown, it is likely that Batman won’t be making an appearance in the film. But, use of Batmobile for the shoots suggest otherwise. The video can be found below.

Taking inspiration from Alan Moore’s comic book The Killing Joke and the 1982 film The King of Comedy, the Joker origin movie will dig deeper into circumstances which led to Arthur Fleck’s transformation from a clown to a villainous Clown Prince of Crime. It will portray the clown as a failed 1980s comedian.

Todd Phillips is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver. Joker also stars Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.

The film is set to arrive in theatres on October 4, 2019.
