The Joker Origin Film Script Update Assures Production In 2018, Details

Earlier last month, it was revealed that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have greenlit an origin film for The Joker under a new banner that doesn’t involve DCEU. Recently, a new scoop suggests that the project is fast tracking better than any other DC project.

Variety Reporter Justin Kroll has tweeted that his sources have revealed that The Joker origin film’s script will be turned in by next week. Furthermore, this also suggests that the project could begin shooting in 2018. The tweet is embedded below.

The news certainly comes as surprise as the new banner and the project’s announcement was just made last month. Going by its fast progress, it looks like the project is on top priority as well.

For those unaware, the director of the project, Todd Phillips co-wrote the script along with Scott Silver. An earlier rumor claimed that the film would feature a young Joker and that it would be a dark movie. But there’s been no official confirmation on that.

Martin Scorsese is also part of The Joker origin film as a producer. It would be exciting to see what plans the Oscar-winning director has for the project. Earlier, fans were thrilled when another rumor suggested that Leonardo Dicaprio was considered to play as The Joker.

Initially, the rumor seemed too convincing due to Scorsese’s relationship with Dicaprio. But it was soon shot down as false information. No release date has been set for The Joker origin film yet.

Fans must note that this project is not connected to the DCEU’s version of The Joker. Jared Leto is still set to play the clown prince of crime in Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens and the Joker and Harley Quinn project.
