‘Justice League’: Lex Luthor’s Villainous Role Will Be Alongside Steppenwolf, Details

Since Lex Luthor played a prominent role in Batman v Superman, his actions in the 2016 DCEU movie led to believe that he would be present in Justice League. But later reports suggested that scenes played by Jesse Eisenberg’s Luthor were diminished or cut from the film as part of the changes that took place during reshoots.

Recently, A Hollywood Spotlight Justice League magazine has shared some details on Lex Luthor’s role in the film. Going by the quotes, it claims that the mastermind villain will once again pose a threat to Man of Steel and others by working alongside Steppenwolf [H/T Reddit]:

“While Luthor was imprisoned at the end of that film [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice] he’s back in Justice League, and will assuredly work alongside the movie’s primary villain, Steppenwolf.”

The earlier SDCC trailer made a mention to Lex Luthor confirming that the villain is locked in Arkham Asylum. In Batman v Superman, the Dark Knight assures the mastermind villain that he will soon be transferred from Belle Reve and it looks like The Batman keeps his word.

In more news from the magazine, it also reveals that Steppenwolf is the uncle to “the universe’s greatest villain, Darkseid.” It also states that “Steppenwolf survived a battle with Doomsday” but it seems like that information is from the comics. Nothing seems certain as of now.

Fans will have to wait to see if Lex Luthor’s role has indeed been diminished to the point that the character just gets a name drop or a brief cameo. Justice League hits the big screens on November 17th.
