‘Justice League’: Zack Snyder Reveals This Shot From Blu-Ray Extras Was Original End Scene

After Zack Snyder’s exit from the DCEU, his plans of making a five-part series, which started with Man of Steel and continued the narrative with Batman v Superman, Justice League, Justice League sequel, and ending with a fifth movie was also scrapped. Joss Whedon’s entry into the scene to oversee Justice League changed the film’s ending entirely. While Snyder wanted to set up Darkseid as Justice League 2’s villain, Whedon and WB had other plans.

Recently, a fan posted a still from the Justice League extras in Blue Ray on Vero (via Screen Rant) and asked Snyder to elaborate on that particular scene. The picture in question showed the DC ensemble including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash standing together. The green screen in the background and the set on which the superheroes are standing on, suggests that the scene is from the third act of the movie.

Snyder explained that the picture is from Justice League’s finale and that they were staring up through a boom tube. You can check out the director’s comment in the still below.

As the final theatrical cut did feature the boom tube scene, it remains unconfirmed if the said scene was a part of the Snyder Cut. It is possible that the picture shows an alternate take on the reaction shot of the team seeing Steppenwolf being taken through a boom tube.

However, the Vero picture and the final scene in the movie have a lot of differences. The team is shown standing close together in the photo, but the theatrical cut showed them scattered with the camera focusing on each character’s individual reaction shots. Furthermore, Ezra Miller’s Flash is standing behind the team in the photo, while he was shown laying on the ground in the theatrical cut.

There’s also a slim possibility that this scene could have set up the Justice League sequel’s big bad, Darkseid. But we’ll never know unless Snyder has a non-cryptic reply for fans.

Justice League is currently available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD.
