Karen Gillian, who plays Nebula, the adoptive daughter of the supervillain Thanos was nowhere to be seen in the Avengers: Infinity War. The reason for the absence of her character from the Infinity War trailer will make sense in time, says Gillian.
Avengers: Infinity War will hit the theaters in less than six months, and it is only now that the first trailer came out in public domain. Moviegoers will get to see characters like Valkyrie and Doctor Strange joining forces with the Avengers, while the Guardians of the Galaxy head towards Earth. The first Infinity War trailer seems very promising as it is exciting. However, few characters, which include the character of Maria Hill, Ant-Man, Valkyrie, and Nebula, are missing in the teaser. The absence of Nebula is making people wonder why such an important character was not revealed in the first footage released by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
In an interview with Radio Times, Gillian was asked about her thoughts on Nebula’s absence in the first Infinity War trailer, she replied that it makes sense. “How do I say this without giving anything away? It makes sense,” said Gillian. She further teased Nebula making her appearance in future trailers.
Gillian promised a whole lot of fun and excitement. Speaking about what lies ahead for fans, the actress said, “It’s gonna be so good! A lot of stuff that we have planted in previous films is going to all come together in quite an explosive way, I would say. Daddy issues will be faced. Thanos (Josh Brolin) is the big bad guy, the ultimate super-villain, so this is the biggest fight that the Avengers will ever have. And being his daughter, Nebula will get entwined in there somehow.”
Karen Gillian was among the first few actors to be hired in the movie. Nebula has a very important role to play in the throwdown of Thanos in threequel. The reason behind Nebula’s absence in the first trailer of Avengers: Infinity War can perhaps be explained. Nebula and her sister Gamora (Zoe Saldana) were stolen by Thanos from their parents. He then converted them into killing machines. The events occurred before the narrative of the first Guardians of the Galaxy. The makers probably do not want to reveal much at this moment. In fact, even the main Guardians were shown at the end of the Infinity War teaser. However, it does seem like the other Guardians, Nebula, and Gamora will be seen in the full-length trailer for the film.
Avengers: Infinity War is directed by brothers Anthony & Joe Russo. The film will release on May 4, 2018. The star-cast includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Scarlett Johansson as blonde Black Widow, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, and Josh Brolin as Thanos among others.
