Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige Confirms More Of Black Panther Character Shuri In MCU

Black Panther has already crossed the whopping $1 billion mark at the global box office in less than one month of its release. It’s the fifth Marvel movie to hit this milestone, the first four being The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3 and Captain America: Civil War.

Now, fans are quite eager to know about Marvel Studio’s plans for the film’s sequel. Thankfully, we have some good news for Black Panther fans.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige first confirmed that Black Panther 2 is definitely happening. While Feige did not reveal any specific plans for the movie, he did mention that talks about a Black Panther sequel started when the company was still working on the first film.

He also assured fans that the film studio already has a pretty solid direction as to where they are heading for the sequel.

The Ryan Coogler blockbuster has received a lot of praise for amazing performances by Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, Letitia Wright’s Shuri, Danai Gurira’s Okoye and Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger. In fact, critics and fans feel that some of the film’s side characters including Okoye and Shuri are worthy enough to get a solo movie.

When asked if fans can expect a Shuri or an Okoye movie in future, Feige replied saying, “I think there’s lots of potential.”

It’s a balance between leaving people wanting more and then giving them too much, but I would watch a movie about any of those characters you just named,” the Marvel Studios chief said. “I think Shuri’s astounding, and you’ll see much more of her in our universe. Okoye, I think I’d watch three action films just Okoye. I’m not saying we’re doing that, but I’m saying that we’re intrigued by them. Frankly, as I’ve said before, finishing these first 22 movies is really all we’re thinking about at this point.”

Recently it was also teased that Shuri’s screen time will be more in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.

For now, fans can watch their favorite Black Panther characters making it to the big screen again in Avengers: Infinity War, which is set to release on April 27, 2018.
