With Kraven the Hunter, it looks like Sony Pictures finally has a successful Marvel title on their hands for 2023. The standalone villain origin story featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Sergei Kravinoff was reportedly screened for test audiences this week and has been called a “solid film” which has prompted Marvel fans’ curiosity.
Sony’s villain-based Marvel universe is expanding with several never before seen antagonists from the comics making their live-action debuts such as Calypso (played by West Side Story star Ariana DeBose) and Christopher Abbott’s The Foreigner. There’s no doubt the Bullet Train star’s first entry in the Spider-Man franchise is going to be all-out villains vs. villains flick but so was Morbius and the fandom is well aware of its “sweeping” track record. Fortunately, a new report has elevated fans’ expectations.
According to credible insider BSL of OneTakeNews, Kraven the Hunter was screened last night and although he did not post an exact test screening score, the pundit heard it was a “pretty solid film” readers can check it out below.
Sony as well as Kraven the Hunter cast members have been hush-hush about addressing the project. During Bullet Train’s premiere, Aaron Taylor spoke about playing the menacing hunter of the Marvel universe and while he restrained from sharing any spoilers, the actor hyped the character’s “backstory” and hinted “it’s going to be different”, possibly double-downing on his earlier statement that Kraven is “an animal lover and a protector of the natural world”

It’s hard to deny Sony’s Spider-Man Universe hasn’t stumbled at the box office which in comparison, to some degree, is similar to the video game curse. Both 2018’s Venom and 2021’s Venom: Let There be Carnage were lackluster Marvel titles although the sequel turned out to be a success among moviegoers, raking in $856 million at the global box office.
Unfortunately, its latter movie like Morbius was a major disappointment, which by itself became a Pop Culture phenomenon to remember. Even so, Columbia Pictures has remained unwavering and have built a lot of anticipation for the upcoming Madame Web featuring star-studded casts namely Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, etc.
Kraven the Hunter will arrive in theaters on October 6, 2023.
