Actor Laurence Fishburne has finally entered the small list of people who have appeared both in the DC Universe and Marvel Universe. but it looks like his future with the DCEU won’t extend anymore as his comment on the cinematic universe and Man of Steel 2 suggests he won’t be returning.
The actor recently made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp. He is portraying the character of Dr. Bill Foster/ Goliath, a rival scientist of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) who collaborated with him on Project Goliath. In the DC film universe, Fishburne appeared in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as Daily Planet editor Perry White.
During a recent interview with Den of Geek, when Laurence Fishburne was asked if he still has plans to reprise his role as Perry White in the DC Universe, the actor replied that he doesn’t think he’ll be participating in the Superman sequel film.
“I don’t think I’m still on call. I was, unfortunately, unable to go do some work on what turned out to be the Justice League movie,” Fishburne said. “I don’t know that I need to go back or if they’ll have me back or not, but I was grateful to have been a part of it. I loved working with Zack (Snyder), I think he makes an incredible superhero movie. I’m just excited to be a part of this (the MCU) now.”
When asked if he knows anything about Man of Steel 2, the 56-year-old actor said that he has no idea about the film.
“I don’t. I don’t. I haven’t heard anything about it,” the Goliath actor said. “They just fell behind the eight-ball. I really wish they had started 20 years ago. But that’s all right, they’re where they are.”
Fishburne revealed that he recently completed shooting for his next film, John Wick 3, in which he will be seen reprising his role of the crime lord and Wick ally, the Bowery King. John Wick 3 will officially hit theaters on May 19, 2019.
