As the filming of Marvel Studio’s space-centric superhero project Captain Marvel is going on in full swing, a lot of new information about the movie’s story and star cast have popped up online. Disney recently confirmed in a press release that two Guardians of the Galaxy actors Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou have been signed for the film.
During an interview with NBC’s New York Live, actor Lee Pace expressed his excitement to reprise his Marvel role in the upcoming Captain Marvel.
“I know nothing, I don’t know anything,” Pace said. “I wish I could tell you all the secrets, but I don’t know any secrets!”
When Pace was asked if the news of his return in Captain Marvel was genuine, he said, “That is true.”
Notably, Pace and Hounsou portrayed the characters of Kree Ronan the Accuser and Kree mercenary Korath the Pursuer, respectively, in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The two were members of the alien race known as the Kree and served under Thanos (Josh Brolin). Both the characters were killed at the hands of the Guardians of the Galaxy superheroes.
“I’m excited to be back,” Pace told hosts Jacque Reid and Sara Gore.
Another actor who is making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Clark Gregg. Gregg’s character Agent Coulson was killed by Loki in Marvel’s The Avengers. As Captain Marvel is set in 1990’s, the film is taking place long before Coulson’s first appearance in Iron Man. So, it is likely that audiences will get to see how he first got started working with Nick Fury and SHIELD.
Captain Marvel story revolves around Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) who turns into a female superhero from an Air Force pilot after her DNA gets mixed with that of a Kree alien in an accident. A lot of onset pictures of Brie Larson in the Captain Marvel costume have been spotted online, the latest batch showing off the actress doing some stunt work for a scene. You can check out the pictures below.
Captain Marvel is next scheduled to film in Fresno from the second week of April.
Directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel will premiere in theatres on March 8, 2019.
