The first four episodes of Tom Hiddleston starring Loki season 2 are being hailed as a fast-paced non-stop excitement with new characters like Ke Huy Quan‘s O.B & Kang’s Victor Timely delivering a fantastic performance. Unlike MCU’s recent multiverse-centric entries – the follow-up season appears to be a self-contained story keeping the focus on Loki, Mobius and Hunter B-15’s high-stakes adventure, in their search for Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Judge Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong). Here’s what critics have to say in their social media reactions/reviews.
With the wrap-up of Loki season 2‘s green carpet premiere in LA, the verdict is out on the God of Mischief’s multiverse drama series & safe to say it’s largely positive. Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, the fan event was launched unaccompanied by any of the cast members but Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige was present at the event to put the ensemble in the spotlight for their performance.
Loki season 2 picks up right where season 1 concluded so viewers can expect to see Loki & Mobius puzzled as they attempt to get a grip on the situation at hand. The non-spoiler social media reactions confirm the series digs deeper into the TVA’s importance, as noted by CinemaBlend’s Sean O’Connell.
For starters, Miss Minutes could be a bigger thorn to handle than what has been portrayed so far. Aside from compliments for Tara Strong’s voiceover – one critic noted, “Miss Minutes will still get on your nerves”.
The first four episodes of #LokiS2 greatly benefit from being part of a second season, with fast pacing and non-stop excitement.
The entire cast is phenomenal, the score is breathtaking & it may be the most thrilling Marvel series yet. #Loki #LokiSeason2 #MissMinutes pic.twitter.com/ZCEjq83GGW

Yes, Ke Huy Quan is brilliant in #Loki.
His character has a key role in Season 2. He brings so much charm and joy to this show, brilliant chemistry with the rest of the cast. pic.twitter.com/GD3r0ZzltX

I was very disappointed with the first few episodes of #LokiSeason2. You don't feel the stakes, the stories are not all that interesting, and S1's essential, exciting energy is gone. The cast is still great and, hopefully, it gets better, but I expected more after 2 years away. pic.twitter.com/dyfuw5Wwca

#LokiSeason2 is a triumphal return. Everything good the first season provided us is expanded here. The visuals are even better, the additions to the cast are one of the best Phase 5 had so far, the tone of the show is darker and it prepares us for the chaos that is coming. pic.twitter.com/OwDHZHwfR8

I got to watch 4 episodes of #LOKI SEASON 2
It picks up right where S1 left off w/ a frenetic & intense premiere. It’s excellent.
The series manages to tell an epic & grand story while feeling personal & intimate.
Loki continues to be Marvel’s best series. #LokiSeason2 pic.twitter.com/UZ09b5oWHP

I've seen four episodes of #LokiS2, and so far it's a banger. It starts right where we left off and takes off running. You'll savor every minute of every episode. I can't wait to see how they close it out. And yes, Miss Minutes will still get on your nerves. #Loki #LokiSeason2 pic.twitter.com/s1IjsA1nx3

How I'd describe the first 4 episodes of #LokiSeason2:
1-will spawn lots of fan theories (my least fav of the lot)
2-super fun with emotional chords (my personal fav)
3-deranged in a way I can't wait to see the internet react to
4-uncomfy (in an intriguing way) & gamechanging

SO #LokiSeason2!
Despite a sluggish start, #Loki picks up after a few episodes, and I enjoyed it! Hiddleston and Wilson's dynamic shines, and everyone's acting chops measure up!
The cinematography, score, and sets are fantastic! Pacing squanders at times, though! pic.twitter.com/0aRiAJ77XT

The Loki season 2 premiere is the best thing Marvel Studios has made in years.
New rules get set. New mysteries posed. Much of it shot on a glorious practical set with really clever camerawork throughout.
I’m gonna love diving deep into this show every week.

Having seen the first 4 episodes of #LokiSeason2 : s2 gets to be bigger, weirder, and more complex, as we continue to build out The Multiverse Saga. #LokiS2 also sticks to what I want an #MCU series to feel like, rather than just a movie split in X parts. Get ready fam. #Loki pic.twitter.com/ohnkyejkM2

#LokiSeason2 is a mixed bag so far.
Ep 1-2 exposition heavy with rushed conclusions to select story lines that had me puzzled..
Ep 3-4 FLAWLESS & has some of my favorite stuff from this entire show. Some choices even had my jaw drop on the floor in a good way! Loved these two pic.twitter.com/she1qC6Dqn

#LokiSeason2 is EPIC!
Loki is the savior the #MCU needs. Season 2 is one of the best Marvel entries we've gotten in a LONG time. It starts strong and delivers the goods each episode. This makes me excited for #Marvel again.@LokiOfficial @DisneyPlus @MarvelStudios @FandomWire pic.twitter.com/RBBRfShEEL

#LokiSeason2 pushes the envelop & rewrites everything we know about the TVA.
With the recent trend of MCU projects being meh, put this one is in the win column meeting my high expectations coming off of the success of season 1.

#Loki Season 2 had possibly the strongest start of any Disney+ series so far with its first episode being pretty fun and engaging, picking up right where S1 left off. Loki Season 1 was the best Disney+ MCU show imo and these first two episodes of #LokiSeason2 follow it up strong pic.twitter.com/puipqLqbOX

Season 2’s “dark and dreary” tone seems to be cleverly balanced with comedy from Ke Huy Quan’s O.B. and Wilson’s Mobius. The EEAAO star has a brilliant chemistry with the recurring cast, as Comicbook’s Brandon Davis states. It shouldn’t come as a surprise since even the brief conversation between Mobius & the TVA mastermind was not short of humor in the trailer.
The supporting cast such as Wunmi Moasku‘s Hunter B-15 has delivered a “career performance” says CBR writer Joshua M. Patton. In addition, Obi-Wan Kenobi composer Natalie Holt’s score has been heavily praised as well and the same applies to the cinematography.
It should be noted critics are awfully silent on Kang/Victor Timely’s performance (likely due to Majors’ unresolved controversy) though have hailed the big bad as the next Thanos. Furthermore, a few critics found season 2 to be a lackluster follow-up with rushed conclusions. For some like FandomWire’s Reilly Johnson, the sophomore entry is not as good as the first season.
It’s fair to say Loki season 2’s success can be attributed as a group effort of the cast & crew. In fact, critics have applauded the series creators for being the first Marvel Studios project to complete its production without additional photography. In the past, several MCU flicks & comic book movies have tarnished their chances at box office success due to bad press over reshoots.
Oh damn, forgot one shoutout! Wunmi Mosaku has maybe a career performance as Hunter B-15. There's a scene in #Loki Ep. 2 she plays silently, which almost made me burst into tears. Best character growth from S1 to S2 of the original cast, in my opinion. pic.twitter.com/i8PheLCyUN

Had a chance to watch the first 4 episodes of #LokiSeason2! It's cemented my opinion that #Loki is by far the best #MarvelStudios show.
Although not quite as good as the first season, #LokiS2 is still very captivating and clever, and it leaves me wanting more. Tom Hiddleston… pic.twitter.com/u1u95XGpat

I had the awesome privilege of watching #LokiSeason2 early and got to see TWO episodes! It's just as good as season 1; insanely well put together. There's a reason they were so confident that they didn't do additional photography. The cinematography, music, performances (1/5) pic.twitter.com/HVv5vs6hji

I've seen four episodes of #LokiSeason2, and it's outstanding! It goes much deeper into the importance of the TVA, introduces terrific new characters (Ke Huy Quan is PERFECT as O.B.), and takes S1 characters down wild avenues. I screamed at the conclusion of Ep. 4. Huge recommend pic.twitter.com/8cblDLLGgg

The multiverse is still messy, but #LokiSeason2 has a clear idea of where it’s going, and the cast is better than ever. It’s so incredibly obvious how much Tom Hiddleston adores this character, and the life he continues to breathe into him is so rewarding to watch. #Loki pic.twitter.com/hqdn9UFHfn

Loki season 2 picks off exactly where it left off, which catapults viewers into a chaotic chain of events that will leave them with their mind spinning & their jaws on the floor. Boy is it good to be back at the TVA! Ke Huy Quan is amazing & fits in perfectly!#LokiSeason2 #Loki pic.twitter.com/VKQmOHRFBF

Loki season two cements the series as the best of the Disney+ Marvel shows. It's about as self-contained as they get. For those that have checked out, check back in for this show. It's dark, dreary, and has that impending sense of doom that only Kang can bring #LokiSeason2 #Loki pic.twitter.com/2pI7jvjTaK

#LokiSeason2 is by far the best Marvel series yet.
It’s bigger than season 1 in every way. It wastes no time getting the story moving, with some of the biggest twists since Infinity War. All this brought together by its absolutely amazing cast. This is Hiddleston at his best. pic.twitter.com/PRs6mCLpqK

#LokiSeason2 is lightning fast-paced, high stakes, unfiltered chaos, and frankly, it's incredible. Story moves quick but with good flow, bromance and the supporting cast (especially Quan) are amazing, score is euphoric, and the cinematography is breathtaking. #LOKI IS BACK! pic.twitter.com/Z3ZMJpoGgb

I was blown away by #LokiSeason2 ! After some mediocre recent outings (although I am one of the few QUANTUMANIA defenders), the MCU has returned to form with a funny, thrilling, and smart time travel caper. It manages to feel perfectly big and small at the same time. pic.twitter.com/OQ8KWqdP64
