Actor Mike Colter, who plays the role of Luke Cage, has confirmed that his Marvel character is among the ones who got turned to dust due to Thanos’ snap in last year’s Avengers: Infinity War movie. Colter debuted as Luke Cage in Season 1 of Jessica Jones. He went on to portray the titular Marvel Comics hero for two seasons of Luke Cage.
During an interview with Comic Book ahead of his appearance at Wizard World in New Orleans during the weekend, when Colter was asked if he would make an appearance in Avengers: Endgame, he revealed that his character is already dead following the events of Infinity War. He confirmed that his character did not survive the devastating snap.
“Am I in Avengers: Endgame? Well, you know what? Based off what happened, I’m already dead, the snap has already happened with Luke Cage,” Colter said. “We’re dead, we’re already gone! I hate to break it down, break people’s… but no, no, we’re not.”
In October last year, Netflix announced that it has canceled three Marvel series- Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Daredevil. Despite the show getting canceled, Colter is quite optimistic that he will be able to reprise the role in some future movies.
“You know what? Sure,” Colter said. “Absolutely, I’d be down for [movies]. Anything is possible. These things are sort of up in the air, at this moment. It’s pretty fresh. We got canceled on October 19th, or something like that I think the date was. So yeah, it’s still pretty fresh. We’ll see. With time, they’ll probably be some more clarity for everybody whether we’re actually gonna be involved in anything else.”
Luke Cage Season Two is streaming now on Netflix. The series stars Mike Colter, Simone Missick, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Mustafa Shakir, Gabrielle Dennis, Rosario Dawson, and Reg E. Cathey.
Avengers: Endgame will arrive in theaters on April 26, 2019.
