Luke Cage star Mike Colter teases big announcement for The Defenders and team up with Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter

It looks like Marvel Studios/Disney Plus may have a big announcement in store for The Defenders series characters and particularly for Luke Cage star Mike Colter and Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter. The two Marvel actors’ have teased their return in a cryptic photo posing together.

The picture of Colter and Ritter were shared on both of their social media accounts respectively. The first doubt arose from the white scratch blocking a sticker stuck on Ritter’s t-shirt. As fans may know, Marvel goes above and beyond for keeping secrets tight wrapped. But that doubt was soon clear from Colter’s post, and the edited description stating, “L.C. + J.J. = Big Tease #marvel #thedefenders #lukecage #jessicajones.” Readers can check it out below.

Colter tagging not just his character and Ritter’s but also The Defenders rises hopes for every character’s return including Finn Jones’ Iron First, which was the only failed adaptation from Netflix’s Marvel. But it can be argued the breadcrumbs leading to The Defenders’ return announcement were already out there.

Ever since The Defenders shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher) landed on Disney Plus, fans have been anticipating some sign from the Marvel stars or execs on the revival of the Netflix-made Marvel shows. Charlie Cox’s return as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in Hawkeye cemented the Devil of Hell Kitchen’s existence in the MCU. But the rest of the characters’ return was in limbo until now. The new hint from the two actors may be the first confirmation that fans have longed for.

With Echo soon returning to the small-screen via her own standalone Disney Plus series, perhaps it wouldn’t be a surprise if any one of the Defenders’ characters make a cameo in it. But this is mere speculation and remains to be seen how Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and the rest would return and to what capacity.

Daredevil and the rest of the Defender series are available on Disney Plus in select regions such as the US. The Netflix-made Marvel shows are yet to arrive on the Disney+ Hotstar in India.
