With 2023’s Oscars ceremony just months away – fans, critics and even creatives like Jason Blum are naming their prediction for the Academy Awards and RRR is the M3GAN Producer’s choice of film predicted to win this category. The Telugu blockbuster from Indian cinema has emerged as a strong contender thanks to the ongoing campaign by Variance Film.
S. S. Rajamouli‘s Magnum Opus RRR continues to garner more support from Hollywood and Blum’s praise is the latest addition. The Academy Awards will unveil the nomination list on January 24, 2023 after the voting which happens between January 12-17 so it remains to be seen which categories have been considered. RRR was submitted in 13 categories with a big push for the song Naatu Naatu to receive an Oscar nom for the original song.
While fans are holding their hopes for Oscar recognition, Blumhouse CEO went a step beyond to predict it as the winner. “I’m going with RRR winning best pic. You heard it here first. Mark it down, please. If I’m right, I am awarding myself my own Oscar,” tweeted Blum. Readers can check it out below.
It should be noted that RRR bagging a nomination would by itself be considered a phenomenal feat of achievement as 2001’s Lagaan was the last Indian movie to be nominated for the prestigious award. But the Indian committee has not submitted RRR for the Oscars rather its Variance Film running the campaign under “for your consideration”.

RRR’s chances at the Oscar have grown strong since S. S. Rajamouli emerged as the winner of the NYFCC Award for Best Director. Prior to that, the Tollywood title bagged the runner-up at Los Angeles Film Critics Association. Since then, the Indian movie has won several wins and noms such as the Boston Society of Film Critics Award, Chicago Film Critics Association Awards, etc.
Meanwhile, Blum could also soon be receiving award-worthy praise for his involvement alongside James Wan in the making of M3GAN. The horror title featuring an AI doll currently stands fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and its early success has already prompted talks of a potential sequel.
RRR movie is currently available to stream on Netflix and Disney Plus Hotstar.
