It looks like the Man of Steel will be wearing a black suit in the upcoming Justice League. A new image from Mattel Toys has teased the new costume in their catalog containing series’ of characters from the film.
Thanks to Reddit (Hat tip to Heroic Hollywood) the black suit was spotted in the catalog image below. By the looks of it, it seems to be similar to the black costume first shared by Henry Cavill.
Earlier last August, Cavill officially teased the black suit on social media. The actor shared a photo of a metallic black costume which looks similar to the attires worn by General Zod and his followers.
In DC Comics’ The Death and Return of Superman, the Man of Steel makes an entrance wearing the black Kryptonian suit. The superhero wears the costume to recover from his earlier battle to the death with Doomsday.
Similarly, in DCEU’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the fight against Doomsday ends with Superman’s noble sacrifice. However, in the end, the Man of Steel’s resurrection was slightly hinted in the graveyard scene.
For those unaware, the black suit a.k.a solar suit is worn by Superman after his revival in the Fortress of Solitude. Although he manages to come back to life, the superhero’s abilities aren’t fully restored. To help boost the process, the Man of Steel wears it to increase the consumption of solar energy.
Since then, the connection of dots leads many fans to believe that Superman indeed wears the black suit in the upcoming Justice League. However, the recent Mattel toys’ black suit costume just revealed a change in color to the blue suit instead of an entire attire change to make it look similar to the Kryptonian metallic armor.
Justice League hits theaters on November 17th this year. The film is currently undergoing reshoots under Director Joss Whedon since Snyder’s unfortunate departure from the project.
