Marvel Studios and the Russo Brothers are doing the best they can to keep all Avengers 4 secrets in wraps. But, actress Pom Klementieff who essayed the role of Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Avengers: Infinity War might have accidentally spilled some major Avengers 4 spoilers.
During a recent interview with Paper Magazine, Klementieff was asked to comment on the #MeToo movement and that’s when the possible slip up came. She revealed the name of some characters with whom she shared the Avengers set.
“I remember Brie Larson coming to me and Danai Gurira on the set of The Avengers and she told me about the [Time’s Up] letter to sign and I found it really amazing to have all these women — and men too — together in fighting for a better world,” Klementieff said during the interview. “Things need to change so it’s great that we women are united and speaking out now.”
The revelation confirms that Mantis will be sharing the screen with Captain Marvel and Okoye in Avengers 4. Interestingly, Mantis was one of the MCU characters who fall prey to Thanos’ devastating snap. Klementieff’s recent statement somehow confirms that those who died during the Avengers: Infinity War climax scene are surely coming back to life in Avengers 4.
The Guardians of the Galaxy actress also talked about how she feels playing the cheerful character Mantis.
“It’s so fun,” Klementieff said. “She’s weird, she’s special, she’s in her own world and I get to do funny things and I love to do that. Oftentimes in movies like this, the guys get to do the funny things and the girls have to play the “stop having fun guys” role, which is great, too, but it’s nice to have a different kind of woman. It’s fun to play that. I like to be the weirdo.”
She said people often come to her to share their love for her character Mantis as they feel that they share a close connection with her.
“People sometimes come up to me and tell me how much they love the character and feel a connection with Mantis because they themselves are not that confident or don’t feel good in their own skin,” Klementieff added. “For me, it’s really touching and important that this character exists. I think Mantis’ [story] arc inside the movie is really interesting, too, because she doesn’t know how powerful she is. She was raised in a way that she was never told that she was strong and she was living in a very meek kind of way and then meeting the Guardians opened a new world to her.”
Klementieff will next be seen in Avengers 4 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Avengers 4 is set to release in theaters on May 3, 2019, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn’t have a release date attached yet.
