Notably, Ant-Man & The Wasp director Peyton Reed has already confirmed that the upcoming Ant-Man sequel won’t essentially be a full-on romantic-comedy film as it was expected to be.
“It’s not a romantic comedy,” Reed told Empire Magazine. “The idea might enter Hope’s brain: does she need Scott Lang in her life?”
The director also revealed some details about The Wasp’s first major big-screen role. He stressed that The Wasp is not a supporting character in this movie and that she is quite important to the story and film.
“It was important to me, in this movie called Ant-Man and The Wasp, that she’s not a supporting character,” Reed added. “She’s a lead character. She’s become a fully-formed hero. She really was, along with Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four, one of the first female Marvel heroes. I feel a certain responsibility with The Wasp.”
He explained how Ant-Man and the Wasp movie is different from other MCU films.
“This one explores the different generations of Ant-Man and The Wasp,” he said. “I thought that was an interesting thing we haven’t seen in a Marvel movie.”
