Marvel Studios & Disney Working On A New Franchise Beyond Avengers

The popularity of Marvel Cinematic Universe and Avengers franchise films among fans has increased manifolds since the release of the first Avengers film. All three ensemble movies released to date including The Avengers, Age of Ultron and Infinity War has crossed the whopping $1 billion mark at the global box office. In fact, the latest film in the franchise, which brings together more than 20 Marvel superheroes together, has already shattered all box office records left and right and is inching closer to hit the $2 billion mark.

Next year’s Avengers 4 is being touted as the end of the journey for many of Marvel Studios’ fan-favorite superheroes, but it certainly won’t be the end of the ensemble. Going by latest reports, it seems Marvel Studios and Disney have already begun developing another franchise that could go beyond the Earth’s mightiest heroes’ franchise. However, this doesn’t mean that there will be no more Avengers films in the future.

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently talked about the future of the MCU during an earnings call on Tuesday. He teased about a new franchise beyond Avengers, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

We meet on a regular basis with our Marvel team, and we’ve plotted out Marvel movies that will take us well into the next decade,” Iger said. “I’m guessing we will try our hand at what I’ll call a new franchise beyond Avengers, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t see more Avengers down the road. We just haven’t made any announcements about that.”

Iger added that the untitled fourth installment film, which is currently being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, will bring a significant conclusion to the story that began with 2008’s Iron Man. Marvel is expected to announce more details about their Phase 4 plans after the highly anticipated film hits theaters next year.

There are two other Marvel movies lined up for release including Ant-Man and the Wasp in July, and Captain Marvel in March 2019.
