Marvel’s films and television shows are always connected through their stories. Fans are now interested to know how Avengers: Infinity War’s shocking climax will be handled in the ongoing Marvel television shows. Infinity War ended with Thanos snap wiping off half of the universe’s population.
During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel Television Head, Jeph Loeb, explained how the studio chose to set the newest seasons of their Netflix shows prior to Infinity War’s ending to prevent any chance of spoiling the upcoming Avengers 4.
“Specifically to that [The Snap], what we’ve said is that only we don’t want to spoil what’s in Avengers 4,” Loeb said. “Our story comes out before then so in that particular case, when there’s something that cataclysmic, we’ve said that our story takes place before The Snap.”
Notably, the latest and final seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist and the third season of Daredevil have ignored the events of Infinity War as they take place before Thanos snapped half of the universe out of existence. ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. however, did reference Thanos’ forces invading Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity War. but, it made sure not to closely attach to the timeline.
Loeb mentioned how Runaways showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have set their Hulu show free from timeline worries.
“What we like what Josh [Schwartz] and Steph [Savage] is that this is a show that can stay on its own,” Loeb reflected. “It can reference the rest of the world, but it’s true to teenagers — they’re not interested in what Tony Stark is doing this week or what Matt Murdock is doing this week but they might be interested in a couple of kids who live down in New Orleans and what’s going on there.”
Marvel fans are currently eagerly waiting for the Russo Brothers to reveal the Avengers 4 title. The film is set to release in May next year.
