Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man 3’ In The Cards, Hints Actor Michael Pena

Michael Pena has hinted that Marvel Studios is planning an Ant-Man 3. Ant-Man like Iron Man, Thor and other titles is one of the six non-Avengers MCU movies which has become a franchise.

Michael Pena seems to have suggested that Marvel plans for a third Ant-Man movie. As part of the press rounds for 12 Strong, Pena was asked by IGN if he and Chris Hemsworth (with whom he stars alongside) had discussions on the MCU. Though Pena did not reveal much, his reply suggested that Marvel is planning a trilogy of the film, and also expressed his interest in being part of the big film.

Pena, speaking to IGN said, “We talked about it on the first day. It’s a whole different kind of club to be in, the Marvel Universe. I don’t know if they’ll use me for the third movie, I still really don’t know. It’s cool to make a little bit of a mark on that Marvel Universe and it’s kind of a cool club, they run a really cool studio.”

Pena did not ask Hemsworth for a crossover role in a Thor movie. He said, “I didn’t but I should have so maybe I should say something? I’ve never worked with anyone else from the Marvel Universe. I’ve just worked with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas which is a pretty cool list.”

Ant-Man was a huge risk that Marvel has taken over the past ten years. Even though Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy became a huge hit at the box office, they were unsure if the film would be well received by the audience.

Edgar Wright was associated with Ant-Man for years, only to leave and be replaced by Peyton Reed. The film, however, did fairly well at the box office and was well appreciated by the critics as well.

Seeing the success of the film, Marvel reshuffled their Phase 3 to fit in Ant-Man & The Wasp. The film has already completed production work. While they are yet to release a trailer for the film, Pena’s statement indicates that they are already planning a trilogy.

Marvel has not made any official announcement regarding Ant-Man 3 as yet. If Ant-Man & The Wasp doesn’t fare well at the box office, there’s a possibility that Marvel might not proceed with a threequel.
