While Marvel Studios has kept news regarding Spider-Man 2 under wraps for a long time, a new report suggests the movie is all set to begin filming in about two weeks from now, most probably early next month.
During a recent interview with Collider’s Christina Radish at the press day for Ant-Man and the Wasp, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will begin filming as soon as next month. The filming is rumored to take place in New York, London, Prague, Venice and some other European locations.
Actor Tom Holland recently revealed Spider-Man 2’s official title as Spider-Man: Far From Home. The actor spilled the beans “accidentally” when he confirmed to fans in an Instagram video that they won’t be getting any update on Spider-Man 2 anytime soon.
In the video, Holland revealed that he has already got his script for the second installment in his iPad “without realizing” that the iPad was showing the upcoming film’s title “Spider-Man: Far From Home” made as a logo. The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel is notably one of the first titles of MCU’s Phase 4 after Avengers 4 brings Phase 3 to an end.
In another interview with CinemaBlend, Feige teased that the upcoming film’s title “Spider-Man: Far From Home” might have alternate meanings.
“I won’t say what the meanings are, but we enjoy that title because, like Homecoming, it is full of alternate meaning,” the Marvel’s head said. “And we liked continuing the ‘Home’ thing, with the little Spidey symbol in the ‘Home.’”
The upcoming film will see Peter Parker going abroad to Europe on a globe-trotting adventure. Nothing much about the film’s casting has been revealed yet. Some of the actors who are confirmed to reprise their roles in Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 include Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.
Jake Gyllenhaal’s portrayal as the film’s villain Mysterio is yet to be confirmed. Michael Keaton is also rumored to make a return as Vulture, potentially paving the way for the supervillain group Sinister Six.
More information about Spider-Man 2 is expected to pop up soon as the film enters production next month.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is currently set to premiere in theaters on July 5, 2019.
