With news of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, Enthusiasm among Marvel aficionados is at an all-time high after Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige officially confirmed MCU Phase 4 to Phase 6 is the Multiverse saga. The two ensemble team-up will culminate the multiverse arc though not before introducing the Fantastic Four in their own movie at the start of Phase 6. The announcement has clearly left the fanbase in awe of what’s in store.
While fans were just introduced to the multiverse chaos arc in Loki season 1, WandaVision, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – Marvel Studios has already figured out their culmination point of this storyline, and surprise – it will conclude, presumably with an Endgame level team-up in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty hitting theatres on May 2, 2025, confirms that Jonathan Mayors’ Kang the Conqueror will be Phase 5’s Thanos-Esque villain. But Secret Wars has fans speculating Doctor Doom will be the big bad, especially since a Fantastic Four movie would already be out before the ensemble feature. Although only three MCU films were revealed, Phase 6 consists of eleven titles.
Kang will next pop up in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania with a new comic-accurate look unlike his first appearance in Loki. Brief footage from Ant-Man 3 was screened at SDCC, though it hasn’t been released publicly, trailer description reveals Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) says, “I am an Avengers” to Kang who has an eerie response, “I am a conqueror”. Another dialogue exchange indicates Kang is already hunting down Avengers, “You’re an Avenger. Have I killed you before?.”
Reactions from Hall-H attendees are praising Kang’s appearance as menacing and the perfect villain for the Multiverse saga. Moreover, fans are already posting hilarious memes anticipating what the new generation of Avengers will go up against when fighting Kang and presumably, Doctor Doom. Prior to the two Avengers films in 2025, Marvel will lay the seed of confrontation in Phase 5 titles like Secret Invasion. The Disney Plus series will feature Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) – teasing a chaotic crisis that Smulders teased at Hall-H saying, “This is a darker show, you guys. We’re going to get deeper into the characters, and it’s an exciting thriller, You never know if someone is Skrull or human.” This storyline was first depicted in Spider-Man: Far From Home when Fury and Hill were Skrull imposters reporting to the real Fury.
All in all, the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to have laid the foundation for the new gen Avengers in Phase 4 and later establish them in Phase 5 and pit them against Kang and Doctor Doom in a world-ending event in Phase 6. It will be thrilling to see Marvel’s first family also in the twist and let’s not forget the mutants as well. Will the X-Men also fight alongside the Avengers? It’s too soon to tell but the future looks bright.
