MCU Fans react to Ms. Marvel episode 2 addressing India-Pakistan partition, SRK’s Baazigar reference, Avengers Endgame’s Black Widow nod, Kamala Khan’s powers explained & more

Ms. Marvel episode 2 had a lot to unpack, particularly with Kamala Khan’s (Iman Vellani) cosmic shapeshifting powers though not without a plethora of Easter eggs – From references to Black Widow’s (Scarlet Johansson) death in Avengers: Endgame to India-Pakistan’s 1947 partition – the latest episode on Disney Plus has MCU fans sold on the series, especially the South Asian community with multiple Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) references and yes, Kamala is a fan of 1993’s Baazigar and 1995’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Ms. Marvel episode 2

If Kamala Khan listening to Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) podcast in episode 1 wasn’t enough indication she is an Ant-Man stan then the opening of Ms. Marvel episode 2 assures viewers of that. With a little help from her charming “friend” Bruno (Matt Lintz), Kamala goes through a Spider-Man-Esque training phase to get a grip over her powers (knocking off talking to ants, ability to shrink and fly off the list). But the scene surprisingly offers a hint the Bangle is not the source of her abilities but rather the power emits from within. Could this be an Inhumans connection indication? It’s too soon to tell.

Even so, the mention of Thor and Asgard gives a new twist to the young superhero’s abilities. Ms. Marvel episode 2 had quite a few MCU references with Kamala revealing Eternals character Kingo has a fanbase of his own. All things considered, reception is massively positive as shown in the reactions below.

Ms. Marvel’s training montage left some viewers a bit startled with the Black Widow’s fall to death reference. Though that’s not the only nod to the legacy MCU star with Ms. Marvel doing a Black Widow-style superhero landing, as Vellani teased during the show’s red carpet premiere. Additionally, fans are praising the series’ Muslim representation showing Eid celebration, daily life at Mosque and Kamala & Nakia breaking gender stereotypes with subtle crafty dialogues.

Ms. Marvel episode 2 ended with a cliffhanger but it seems Kamala may finally learn more about her great-grandmother Aisha and her new crush, Kamran (Rish Shah). In Marvel comics, Kamran becomes inhuman after being exposed to the Terrigen Mist.

Ms. Marvel episode 3 will stream on Disney Plus next Wednesday.
