Deadpool 3 is in the news again after finally landing a director to helm the Ryan Reynolds’ led MCU project. The 45-year-old Red Notice star will collaborate with Shawn Levy, who also directed Free Guy and the recently released Netflix sci-fi, The Adam Project.

Fan reactions are over the moon as the THR report also confirms Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick’s return, the screenwriters who scribed the first two Deadpool films. Furthermore, With Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine also a topic of interest in the MCU fandom – A comment from Levy may have hinted at a possibility of seeing the two stars appear together in Deadpool 3. Though, as Reynolds noted, the decision lies in the hands of Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

The surprising news seems to have also caught fellow Deadpool 2 star Lewis Tan off guard. The actor tweeted in support of the threequel project with a behind-the-scenes picture of his Marvel character, shatterstar.

This will be the third Reynolds starring film to be directed by Levy. The star even embraced the news with a cleverly photoshopped image featuring the Merc with a mouth, the character from The Adam Project and Free Guy. “The third film in my Shawn Levy trilogy will be a tad more stabby,” the actor wrote. Interestingly, reactions on social media indicate Marvel’s choice of director has worked in their favor. Readers can check it out below.

Deadpool 3 has been the most anticipated Marvel project that unfortunately got sidelined due to the Disney-fox acquisition. Luckily, the merger has bid farewell to the character and in fact, rumors are that Deadpool has a cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Though, it remains to be seen if the anti-hero would be introduced in a cameo fashion for MCU Phase 4.

Deadpool 3 does not have a release date attached yet.
