MCU head writer on John Krasinski returning as Mr. Fantastic: “I think he’d be an awesome choice”

By now most Marvel fans are aware John Krasinski appears as Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But the bigger question is if he’ll play the smartest man alive for the main universe (Earth-616) in the Fantastic Four feature. Moon Knight Head writer Jeremy Slater recently gave his two cents on The Office star’s possible casting.

With Doctor Strange 2’s success, MCU is officially on road to further explore its Pandora’s box via multiverse but that certainly requires more world-building, especially for Marvel’s first family, the Fantastic Four. Although the MCU film just saw Jon Watt’s exit – it hasn’t stopped some fans from envisioning the family ensemble with Krasinski’s Reed Richards as the main version.

In a recent interview for the Disney Plus series Moon Knight – Slater addressed the Fantastic Four leader’s cameo praising it as a good casting though his brief scene with Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) wasn’t a lot. In fact, Reed Richards had the least movements and his stretching ability was explored only to see him killed off instantly, while Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Captain Marvel (Hayley Atwell) and Captain Carter (Lashana Lynch) exchanged a few blows.

“I think Krasinski is a really cool choice if that’s who they go with for whoever the real version of Reed that gets introduced,” Slater told ComicBook. “I think he’d be an awesome choice. We didn’t get to see him do a lot of fun stuff in there — [the Scarlet Witch vs. the Illuminati] was much more of an introduction and a sort of glorified cameo.”

It should be noted the MCU fandom is divided in their opinion over Krasinski’s casting. Even so, the actor was chosen to play the Marvel role because of a massive fan campaign on Twitter.  It will be interesting to see who Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige will pick to play the role. Additionally, there’s support for the Jack Ryan actor to take on directorial responsibilities for Fantastic Four.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is in theatres. Fantastic Four does not have a release date attached yet.
