MCU’s Secret Wars: Kevin Feige reportedly spoke to TASM’s Andrew Garfield to reprise Spider-Man, Wolverine rumored to return for Avengers 6: ‘Now we just need Tobey’

Avengers 6 titled Secret Wars is years off from going into production but it’s not stopping Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige from engaging in pre-production work like chatting with Andrew Garfield to reprise his TASM’s Spider-Man, according to an insider report. The sequel to Avengers: Kang Dynasty titled Secret Wars is expected to be the culmination of MCU’s multiverse arc so fans have long speculated it would involve earlier Marvel live-action characters as well.

With upcoming titles like Ms. Marvel and Loki season 2 – MCU is slowly but surely shaping the multiverse saga with Kang at the center of it similar to Infinity Saga’s Thanos. It was long speculated by fans, critics and insiders alike that Secret Wars would involve most if not all the previous Marvel iterations due to its multiverse narrative.

Now, insider CWGST says The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield was reached out by Kevin Feige prior to the SAG Strike. The discussion was in relation to reprising his Spider-Man for Avengers: Secret Wars. While it is unknown to what capacity, another CBM scooper Alex P. of CosmicCirus also called the report credible “this is true” but hoped that Marvel would acknowledge Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire‘s existence in an upcoming project before Secret Wars.

Speaking of Tobey, audiences have also longed to see Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man return ever since No Way Home. Though no word yet on the two parties participating in discussions yet. Meanwhile, Deadpool 3‘s Hugh Jackman had a meeting with Feige too to discuss his return as Wolverine for MCU’s biggest ensemble flick set for 2027.

Since MCU’s misfire with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Doctor Strange 2‘s multiverse plot failing to be an overall success – there has been a growing talk of multiverse fatigue looming in. In fact, Deadpool 3 has been dubbed by many as another Multiverse of Madness with almost all the Fox’s X-Men playing a cameo and even early 2000s Marvel live-actions like Daredevil and Elektra making an appearance.

In fairness, it’s too soon for Marvel to even consider pulling the plug on their current multiverse trajectory. Although Phase 5 has been a hit or miss at the box office – the next chapter in the store has high expectations and audience interest for titles like Fantastic Four. Phase 5’s Secret Invasion ended up on the worst-rated Marvel series on RT but its conclusion has raised interest in Don Cheadle‘s Armor Wars series.

The Marvels executive producer Mary Livanos also touched upon the relevance of Ms. Marvel’s cosmic bangles opening up “plentiful opportunities for the future of the MCU” for Secret Wars, if the team behind plans to pursue them. She addressed it regarding the bangle’s ability to open a portal in time and space to access other dimensions.

Perhaps, The Marvels movie may offer some answers to what Secret Wars could entail and why it would require the assistances of TASM’s Spider-Man, Fox’s Wolverine in a pivotal role. Stay tuned for more updates on Avengers 6.
