Moira MacTaggert Won’t Appear In ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’, Confirms Actress

It seems fans will not be able to see Rose Byrne playing the role of Moira MacTaggert in the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The X-Men: Apocalypse sequel will reportedly feature a host of strong female characters, but, the roster will not have Rose Byrne reprising her role as CIA Agent.

Byrne’s character Dr. MacTaggert played an important part in X-Men: First Class and Apocalypse. But, unfortunately, her romantic equation with Charles Xavier won’t go any further, at least not in the upcoming X-Men film. The news was confirmed by Byrne herself.

In an interview with CinemaBlend talking about the upcoming movie Peter Rabbit, the actress said that she had fun filming Apocalypse, but she’s not going to appear in the sequel.

Unfortunately, Moira is not showing up,” Byre said. “I wish she was. I had such fun on X-Men: Apocalypse. I love that cast. It is a really fun, what do you call it? Superhero film… ensemble exactly. I can’t wait to see what [Jessica Chastain] does, cause I’m such a fan.”

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will have a couple of other female characters playing sizeable roles in the film including Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Alexandra Shipp as Storm,  and Jessica Chastain as mysterious Smith. It is likely that MacTaggert will at least receive a mention in the upcoming film considering her romance with James McAvoy’s Charles Xavier.

Director Simon Kinberg’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix is scheduled to hit theatres on Nov. 2, 2018. The star cast of the film include James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkholme/Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy/Beast, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Ororo Monroe/Storm, , Evan Peters as Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler, Jessica Chastain as Smith and Olivia Munn as Psylock.

There’s a lot of hype surrounding the movie since it takes on one of the most interesting events from Marvel comics, the Dark Phoenix saga. Actress Sophie Turner has already teased that the film will revolutionize the superhero genre.

Composer Hans Zimmer is reportedly making a return to superhero movies with X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The film’s star Evan Peters confirmed in MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast that Zimmer is composing the score for the upcoming X-Men movie.
