Forget about Marvel Studios’ multiverse arc for Phase 4 but the Moon Knight series hopes to change the comic book-based cinema landscape with a character-driven brutal story featuring Oscar Isaac in the titular role. Empire’s recent article on the Disney Plus has been the topic of dissent among fans and luckily the April 2022 digital issue has offered more than just titbits’ of details rather revealing teasing new look of Marc Spector, the ancient Egyptian Moon god Khonshu and more.
Marvel Cinematic Universe, as we know it, is about to change with an exploration of larger-than-life elements through a “third-rate character” (words of Steven Grant). Unlike Disney Plus shows like Loki, WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Solider– the upcoming series based on a yet-to-be-established character will have a tonal shift, taking on concepts such as reincarnation, mental health due to the titular character’s dissociative identity disorder & let’s not forget, exploring the mysterious and darker elements of the Egyptian pantheon. Speaking of which, screencaps of Moon Knight images in better quality can be found below.

From what’s been shown so far, Moon Knight certainly looks to change the MCU landscape with a gritty character study of not one but multiple characters living inside one individual. While some may wonder what prompted Marvel to explore an obscure character, MCU chief Kevin Feige said:
“We’ve always loved Moon Knight,” says Feige. “He always fascinated us as something we hadn’t seen before, [so] when the Disney+ idea came up, it quickly became one of the first things we wanted to do, because we loved the story.”
Moon Knight’s Big Game TV Spot shown during Super Bowl 2022 had new scenes of the white-caped hero/villain in action as well as revealing his Moon-shaped boomerang. But Marvel’s secrecy strategy is keeping the show’s plot hush-hush, for now.
Moon Knight will be available to stream on Disney Plus starting from March 30, 2022.
