The last episode of Marvel Studios’ miniseries on Disney Plus, Moon Knight, ended on a high note with a proper introduction to the third personality, Jake Lockley. Shockingly, his full-fledged appearance also meant the end of Harrow. Aside from that exciting tease in the post-credits scene, the finale offered more than a few hype moments, particularly with Calamawy’s Layla transforming into Tawaeret’s Avatar.

Layla’s arc from being at risk of becoming Khonshu’s Avatar to becoming Scarlet Scarab, the Egyptian superhero with Tawaret’s winged suit is quite the unexpected U-turn that no one saw coming. However, it was far from being the only twist of the show as Lockley’s blood-curdling takeover in the midst of fighting Ammit’s followers had many fans in awe. Some comic fans were also delighted to see episode 6 offer another Easter egg nod to the comics by suiting up Khonshu. And let’s not forget, The third act’s Khonshu vs. Ammit’s larger-than-life fight sequence along with Marc vs. Harrow was a showstopper moment in Moon Knight Finale. Mr. Knight’s glow-up in the last battle was quite the touch. Readers can check out the reactions below.

So far, the series lead director Mohamed Diab has acknowledged fans’ hope to see season 2 or even a spinoff for Layla. The EP shared a tribute message thanking the Moon Knight Team, specifically Jeremy Slater, Beau DeMayo, Becky Kirsch, and more. Speaking of season 2, though Marvel Studios is yet to order another season, the phrasing used to promote Moon Knight went from being “series finale” to “season finale” so some fans are already taking it as a hint for the next set-up. In fact, with Lockley’s identity just taking the surface, it will be interesting to see how Marc and Steven would react and what dark origin story lies behind the third alter.
