Lennie James as Morgan Jones will be the character to crossover from The Walking Dead (TWD) to Fear the Walking Dead (Fear TWD). This was revealed in tonight’s episode of Talking Dead.
Fans have been expecting this news since AMC announced a few days ago that the crossover character would be revealed to the audience on tonight’s Talking Dead episode. This announcement was made on AMC’s post-TWD chat show. The crossover between The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead spinoff will see Jones blending the two stories and moving to Fear The Walking Dead.
For those who think that the crossover means the end of Lennie James Morgan character in TWD, there is a bit of news. Even though James is getting ready to start shooting for TWD in Austin, Texas, showrunner Scott M. Gimple has clearly stated that Morgan Jones has a lot more left to do in the show.
“Even though Morgan is going to be featured on Fear, he has a lot of story left on The Walking Dead,” stated Scott M. Gimple in a statement that was read out on Sunday’s episode of Talking Dead. The statement further says, “Morgan’s arch on The Walking Dead Season 8 positioned him for the story on Fear. It was also important to see Fear‘s world and characters through new yet familiar eyes.”
A few years after the premiere of Fear the Walking Dead, the TWD franchise denied any plans for crossovers. It was hard to imagine that as well since both the series take place at different points in the timeline.
Almost a month back, it was revealed that the rating of season 8 of The Walking Dead is crumbling down. Perhaps, the crossover could help lift its rating as well.
Back in October when AMC revealed that one of the character will crossover to another Robert Kirkman-based series, fans were taken aback. But soon there were speculations that the crossover character in question would be Abraham Ford essayed by Michael Cudlitz. Not many people thought of Morgan at the time.
Meanwhile, Lennie James is all set to start shooting for Fear TWD early Monday morning in Austin, Texas.
The Walking Dead Season 8 airs every Sundays on AMC. Watch Fear the Walking Dead season 4 in mid-2018.
